Five Held For Attempting To Misappropiate 70 Tonnes Of Oil Palm FFB

KUANTAN, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Marine Operations Force (MOF) detained five men suspected of misappropriating 70 tonnes of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) worth RM46,670 in raids in Gebeng and Jalan Semambu here around 3pm Wednesday.

MOF Region Three commander ACP Azmi Ibrahim said the raids were conducted together with officers from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, following intelligence on their activities.

"In the raid in Gebeng, we detained a lorry laden with 13 tonnes of FFB driven by a 37-year-old man. The lorry had entered a fenced up area along the Kuantan by-pass road to unload the cargo instead of its intended destination which was Kuantan Port," he told reporters here.

He said that they also detained three other men at the same location who were busy packing 44 tonnes of FFB into gunny sacks, believed to be sold to non-intended buyers.

He added that in the Jalan Semambu raid, they detained another lorry laden with 13 tonnes of FFB.

The 38-year-old lorry driver admitted to engaging in the same activity as the other lorry driver, he said.
