  1、将用过的铝制易拉罐洗净

  记者将手机放在距无线路由器约4米处,没有套上“放大器”前,手机的信号强度为-68dBm,套上后,手机的信号强度为-50dBm。实验结果表明,易拉罐制作的放大器同样使手机的无线信号增强了。

HOW  TO  AIRPORT  EXPRESS  AS  A  RANGE  EXTENDER

In the previous section I taught you how to set up an Airport Express (wireless router) device with its own wireless network. This was done with the aid of an ethernet cable that connected the airport express device to a NetGear DGN1000 wireless modem/router whereby once they were connected the airport express device could then have its own wireless network running off the internet connection provided by the NetGear DGN1000 wireless modem/router. This meant any laptop, ipad or iphone for example wanting an internet connection would have to connect to the wireless network associated with the airport express device. The main advantage of this kind of setup is that you are now allowing those devices to connect to a wireless router that operates on a 5.0 Ghz frequency, as opposed to a 2.4 Ghz frequency, which results in less interference and drop-out.

In this section I will teach you how to wirelessly connect an Airport Express device to an existing wireless network that is associated with a wireless modem/router, as opposed to creating a new wireless network like in the previous section. In other words, the airport express device will be connected wirelessly to the wireless modem/router's wireless network. This means the airport express device is joining (connecting to) that wireless network and not its own, in the same way an ipad would join that wireless network. The advantage of this is that you can then take the airport express device, now connected wirelessly to the wireless modem/router's wireless network, into another room and then attach it to a networked hard drive, standard printer, apple tv or other internet based gadget.

Carrying on from the previous section; I have since enabled the wireless router functionality of my NetGear DGN1000 wireless modem/router, by ticking and applying its ENABLE WIRELESS ACCESS POINT wireless setting, so that I now have a wireless internet connection coming from its wireless network called: Yoingco. It will be this Yoingco wireless network that I will be joining the airport express device to. I have also, purposely, reset my Airport Express device so that it's using default Factory Settings again. Although this step is not required, it can sometimes help to avoid troubleshooting later on.

Resetting was done by pressing down on the Reset Button at the back of the airport express device for about 6 Seconds until its amber light starting blinking rapidly. Although this worked, one thing worth noting here is that the Airport Utility application together with OS X (Mountain Lion) will try and make the airport express device recollect/remember the wireless network it was previously connected to, in order to rejoin it. This is good if you want to try and rejoin that old wireless network, but bad if you want it forgotten. In this case I want it forgotten. So before doing anything else the first step to joining a new wireless network, after a factory reset, is to remove all recollection of the old, previous, wireless network. This is done by clicking on the AIRPORT EXPRESS icon and then clicking on the FORGET button within the Airport Utility application window that appears when you first switch on your airport express device.

Now that the previously connected wireless network has been forgotten, the next step is to get the Airport Utility application and OS X (Mountain Lion) to recognize the airport express device again. This is done by clicking on the OTHER AIRPORT BASE STATIONS (1) drop-down menu in the top left corner of the Airport Utility application window and selecting your airport express device (base station), which should be the only one available. In this case the Airport Express 0caa7e.

As the airport express device has been reset to factory settings and been told to forget the previously connected wireless network, the Airport Utility application is forced to set up the airport express device again; from scratch.

You will know when the airport express device has been, initially, set up (pre-configured) because the Airport Utility application window will display the first step of its Installation Wizard, which contains the standard "Create A Network" message and the options (buttons and menus) for creating a new wireless network or joining/extending an existing wireless network. In the example below, because you will not be creating a new wireless network, you will need to click on the OTHER OPTIONS button to proceed.

When the Other Options appear the default setting (default option) called CREATE A NEW NETWORK will be selected. However, because you want to join an existing wireless network you need to select the setting (option) called ADD TO AN EXISTING NETWORK instead before clicking on the NEXT button.

The next step of the Installation Wizard (Airport Utility application) is to ask you which wireless network you want to join (connect to). By default you should see your currently connected, wireless modem/router, wireless network listed as the first choice, but if you have more than one wireless network available (i.e. one modem/router wireless network and a neighbour's wireless network) you can select one of them from the CONNECT TO drop-down menu. Once you have a wireless network selected click on the NEXT button to continue.

With a wireless network selected you are then asked to enter a password for the airport express device (base station). Simply type your preferred password into the PASSWORD edit box, verify it by typing it into the VERIFY edit box and then click on the NEXT button. Airport Utility will then set up the rest of the airport express device for you whereby it is then connected to (joined to) the wireless network you have just selected and therefore using its internet connection wirelessly.
Note Well - The password you enter here is for the Airport Express device (Base Station) only. When joining an existing wireless network the installation wizard knows it should use the already logged in, existing, wireless network's password; that it gets from the keychain. If you are currently logged out of the existing wireless network (the wireless network you want to join) you will be asked for its password.

When you see the 'Setup Complete' message click on the DONE button (above) - You should then see following diagram with green lights, indicating a valid internet connection and joining of the selected wireless network.

So just to clarify; In the above set up process I did not have the airport express device connected to an ethernet cable. The joining of (connection to) the Yoingco wireless network was made purely by the airport express device's built-in router that was able to detect (pickup) and join the Yoingco wireless network wirelessly without cables.

How to configure my Range Extender via WPS button to extend an existing wireless network’s coverage?


 Here in this article, we’ll introduce how to configure Range Extender via WPS button. It’s similar to the QIG of each product, but certainly there is something different.
This article will answer two questions for you:
1.    Sometimes you may find it is difficult to connect your RE product to your Router/AP using WPS button. Why?
2.    Sometimes you can only connect your dual-band RE product to the Wi-Fi 2.4G or 5G of your dual band router/AP using WPS button, but not both bands’ Wi-Fi. Why?
 
Part A: First let’s explain how to configure Ranger extender via WPS button:
1.   Plug your Range Extender into a power outlet near your main Router/AP.
 
2.   Push the WPS button on your main Router/AP first, then immediately push the WPS button on your Range Extender.
 
Note1: After you have pushed WPS button of your Router/AP, you need to push WPS button of your Range Extender within 2 minutes. So we strongly suggest you should push WPS button of your RE product as soon as you have pushed WPS button of your router.
 
Note2: After pushing the WPS button of your Router/AP, your Router/AP’s WPS LED should blink. If your Router/AP’ WPS LED doesn’t blink, it means you need to push the WPS button again until the WPS LED of your Router/AP blinks. The same reason is also suitable for RE product. After pushing the WPS button of your Range Extender, the WPS/RE light of your Range Extender should blink. If not, push again.
Below is the WPS LED of TL-WA850RE and RE200:
  
3.   The WPS process will last 2 minutes. You can wait 2 minutes, and then check the wireless signal LED of your Range Extender. If it’s on (no matter what color it is or how many signal bars there are), then your Range Extender has been successfully connected to your main Router/AP.
 
4.   After 2 minutes, if the wireless signal LED of your Range Extender is still off, it means the WPS process fails. You may need to try one more or several more times of WPS operation, and repeat the steps above.
  
5.   At last, you can put your Range Extender in a proper place where you want to extend the wireless network’s coverage, and enjoy the extended wireless network.
 
 
Part B: Now let’s check this problem “sometimes you may find it difficult to connect your RE product to your Router/AP using WPS button”.

Note: If you can’t configure your Range Extender via WPS, please follow the articles below to configure it via its Web GUI:
 
 
Part C: At last, let’s check this problem “sometimes you can only connect your dual-band RE product to the 2.4G or 5G Wi-Fi of your dual band router/AP using WPS button, but not both bands’ Wi-Fi”.
 
In fact, this problem is mostly caused by the dual band Router/AP but not our dual band Range Extender:
Some dual band Router/AP only allows the clients including Range Extender to connect to its single frequency band (2.4G or 5G, it’s decided by Router/AP) with one push at the WPS button.
 
Note: If you encounter this issue, please follow the articles below to configure your Range Extender via its Web GUI.

Routers can only do so much.  Even if you have the fastest and most expensive router at home, there are situations wherein you will need to increase your local network’s coverage such as:
  • To accommodate more devices to connect to the network
  • To extend the wireless network range 
Below are the types of devices that can help you do this including their corresponding Linksys product models.

Switch

switch is a device that enables you to connect computers and other devices to a computer network through the use of an Ethernet cable.  The switch is NOT capable of sharing Internet connection across the network.  However, it allows more wired devices to be connected to the local network.

wireless access point (WAP) is a device that adds wireless capability to your existing wired network.  This is very helpful especially if you already have an existing local network that doesn’t have wireless capability or running in Wireless-B or Wireless-G speeds.

Range extender

The range extender can connect wirelessly to a router or an access point.  However, it should be configured to have the same wireless settings with the source of your wireless connection for it to work.

How to configure my TL-WA850RE via Web GUI to extend an existing wireless network’s coverage?

Note: This FAQ is suitable for all single band RE products of TP-LINK, and here we just take TL-WA850RE as an example.

We have made clear introductions in the QIG of TL-WA850RE that how to configure TL-WA850RE via WPS. Here we’ll introduce how to configure TL-WA850RE to extend an existing wireless network’s coverage via Web GUI.

Before we configure TL-WA850RE, please check the hardware connection:
  1. Plug your TL-WA850RE into a power outlet near your wireless router or AP.
  2. Use an Ethernet cable to connect your TL-WA850RE to your PC.
Note:
We strongly suggest you should configure your TL-WA850RE via wired connection. But if you don’t have any PC, or your RE product like TL-WA854RE doesn’t have any Ethernet port, in this situation you can only configure TL-WA850RE/TL-WA854RE via Wi-Fi.

Now let’s begin configuring TL-WA850RE:
1. Log into the Range extender by typing http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254 in the address bar of the web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Google chrome).  A little window will pop out and ask you for the username and password. The Username and Password are both admin in lower case by default.
Follow the Quick Setup, and click “Next” to continue.
2. Select your Region here, and then click “Next”.
3. Now your TL-WA850RE will scan all the wireless networks around.
Then please choose the wireless network you want to extend, click “Next”.
4. Now input the password of the wireless network you want to extend, and click “Next”.
Note:
  1. If you choose “Copy form Main Router/AP”, your TL-WA850RE will have the same Wi-Fi name as your main Router/AP. In this way you can set up a roaming network: your wireless clients can switch to the wireless network with the better signal strength either from your main Router/AP or your TL-WA850RE. However, the roaming experience will be decided by your wireless clients. For more detail information about “roaming”, please refer to: What can I do if my client can’t roam between my wireless router and TP-LINK AP & Range Extender product?
  2. If you choose “Customize”, your TL-WA850RE will have a different Wi-Fi name. It will be xxx_EXT (xxx is the Wi-Fi name of your main Router/AP) by default, but you can name it whatever you like. In this way you can’t experience “roaming network” but you can manually choose to connect to either Wi-Fi from your main Router/AP or TL-WA850RE according to the signal strength your wireless clients get.

5. Here we can review all the settings we made just now, click “Finish” if it’s ok.
6. Now TL-WA850RE will reboot itself to make all settings take effect.
7. After the reboot, we need to check whether the settings take effect, which is to check whether your TL-WA850RE has successfully been connected to your main Router/AP and can go to Internet successfully. There are two methods:
  1. Connect your PC to your Ranger Extender such as TL-WA850RE via an Ethernet cable, and check whether your PC can go to Internet successfully. But for TL-WA854RE, which doesn’t have an Ethernet port, please follow method 2 below.
  2. Check the wireless signal LED light of your Ranger Extender (shown as the pictures below). For TL-WA850RE / TL-WA854RE / TL-WA750RE / TL-WA860RE, if the wireless signal LED is on (no matter what color it is or how many the signal bars there are), it means your Ranger Extender has been successfully connected to the main Router!

Note: If the wireless signal LED is still off, it means you haven’t configured your TL-WA850RE correctly. In this situation, please repeat the steps above again. If there is still a problem, please feel free to contact TP-LINK tech support.

 


8. At last, you can put TL-WA850RE in a proper place where you want to extend the wireless network’s coverage, and enjoy the extended wireless network.
