OnePlus has today announced a new software build for the OnePlus 3, Oxygen OS 3.5. This new “community build” is available directly fromOnePlus, although it won’t be available as a standard OTA. Community builds are essentially OnePlus’ version of a beta, allowing its fans to test out new software builds so any problems can be found before the full rollout.
In Oxygen OS 3.5, you won’t find too much that’s new. The official changelog only lists a small handful of changes, including some improvements to the UI, better camera software, more robust settings & customization features, and also new apps. These OnePlus apps include new and improved versions of stock apps such as the clock, weather, and file manager apps.
Focusing in on the UI changes for a moment, you’ll find that OnePlus has updated the notification shade with new color accents,Nougat-like quick settings (note: this build is still based on Marshmallow), along with some changes to the “shelf” feature on the launcher.
As this is an early build, OnePlus 3 users who flash will notice a few things that don’t work.
OxygenOS 3.5 includes some back-end changes that we’re confident will improve the user experience in the long run, but there are some bugs that we’re working out now. These include:Android Pay is not currently supportedOnly English is currently supported in several OnePlus appsSome performance issuesSome UI issues when using custom themesSystem UI tuner is unstable (do not use); using the system UI tuner could cause serious issues that can only be resolved via factory resetYou will need to re-register your fingerprints if you have fingerprint authentication enabled
