If you ever happen to have some leftover wine (it could happen), this is a great way to make sure it doesn't go to waste.
America's Test Kitchen chef and food science expert Dan Souzatold Tech Insider you can actually freeze leftover wine.
"Freeze it in ice cube trays, pop them out and put them in a bag," he said. "And then you've got wine for a sauce, and you've pre-portioned it."
America's Test Kitchen tested fresh wine vs. frozen wine cubesin a sauce, and found they tasted the same.
To make a pan sauce, pour in a half of cup of wine on high heat after the veggies and/or meat has caramelized. The wine will help you get those delicious brown bits off the bottom of the pan, too.
Let it boil until the liquid has reduced by about a third, then turn off the heat and add some butter.
Bon appetit!
