PETALING JAYA: Known for his sense of humour, AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes welcomed two former MAS flight attendants to AirAsia X by telling them to let their hair down… literally.
“Here is a funny clip. At the academy yesterday visiting new crew. Saw some ex MAS crew who still had the famous MAS bun so excited to transform them to AirAsia crew on the spot. Hahahaha,” he says on Facebook, along with a one and half minute video he uploaded, where he is seen introducing the two female employees to participants of Batch 49 at the AirAsia Academy.
“We have two MAS crew who still look like MAS crew,” he joked of the two young women, alluding to their tight buns.
“So we are going to let their hair down today,” he announced, after which the two women proceed to undo the trademark buns they were wearing, that female flight attendants of MAS are famous for.

Encouraged by cheers and claps from those present, the two women begin to remove one pin after another as people in the room are heard remarking “So many pins!”
Fernandes himself, steps forwards, picking up one big pin while exclaiming, “It’s very painful to be an MAS crew!” to which those in the audience responded with laughter.
Saying its cheaper to work in AirAsia as “you don’t have to have pins,” Fernandes makes a show of counting up to six pins that were removed from the bun of one of the women.
As both women let their hair down, and twirl for everyone in the room to see, Fernandes says proudly, “They are now officially AirAsia X crew!”
The video clip has been viewed over 113,000 times and shared 741 times on Facebook at the time of publishing.
